This 200 page book written by the 19th Chief of Clan MacThomas was launched at the International Gathering of the Clans in Edinburgh at the end of July.
It shows how our ancient Gaelic speaking Celtic ancestors came to settle in Ireland before some crossed the sea to establish the Kingdom of Dalriada in Scotland. It covers the historical links with both Clan Chattan and Clan Mackintosh, describes how the Clan came to flourish in Glenshee, explains how political change led to its breakup in the 17th century and documents what has happened since that time right up to the present day. The book sets out in detail how the various MacThomas “sept” names came into being; it includes the pipe tunes, dances and poems associated with the Clan or Glenshee and contains everything you need to know about the Clan’s heraldry, tartans and Society.
